A stand-off ring (or "o-ring") is a small, flat plastic circle which is threaded onto the Craft ROBO blade assembly prior to mounting it into the blade holder. (Stand-off rings are usually included when you purchase carrier sheets for the Craft ROBO.)
Stand-off rings compensate for blade depth and should be used whenever a carrier sheet is used.
Bazzill cardstock can be cut successfully using 2 stand-off rings with the red blade adjustment cap.
Some ingenius Craft ROBO owners in the UK have come up with a way making their own stand-off rings out of cardstock - using the Craft ROBO to cut the same-sized hollow circle out of cardstock which is of a similar thickness to the original plastic ring.
There is a template file for making the cardstock stand-off rings available over at UKScrappers. I found references to it in the forums there but was unable to locate the template for myself. Undeterred, I made my own template file which is available right here in both .ai (Illustrator) and .gsd (ROBO Master) formats. Download the file in the format of your choice to make your own cardstock stand-off rings.
Step By Step Template Instructions
If you're the DIY type, you can create your own template file from scratch. Here's how I made mine in Adobe Illustrator:
When the Craft ROBO has finished cutting the file, you should have a perfect replica of your original plastic stand-off ring. (Remember to save your file as a template for future use.) Now you'll never be without a plentiful supply of stand-off rings for your cutter!
