Scrapbooking Cybercrops

What Is A Cybercrop?

A Cybercrop is an online event where participants chat online whilst they scrapbook from various physical locations. Usually activities and chat are organised via forums or a chat room. Scrapbooking pages created during the event are shared via an online gallery.

Does The Scrap Witch Hold Cybercrops?

Yes! Our next Cybercrop event will be held on over the weekend of 12th & 13th July 2008. Things kick off at 10.25am (Australian EST) on Saturday and finish at around 11pm (Australian EST) on Sunday. Refer to the July 08 Cybercrop Schedule for further details.

How Does It Work?

On the first morning of the Cybercrop, a dedicated chat thread is created in the Cybercrop Forum. Challenges are posted twice a day in the forums. Participants are given time to complete their layouts and upload them to the Cybercrop Gallery at any time during the event.

Do I Need Anything Special?

Since you're already reading this page, we assume that you already have a computer and an internet connection. Other than that, you don't really need anything special to participate. Set up your scrapbooking gear and get ready to scrap. If your computer and your scrapping table are not in the same room, don't worry. You'll have time to move between the computer and the scrapping table. You might decide on the other hand to move your scrapping table near the computer or vice versa. Either way - it doesn't matter.

Future Cybercrop Dates

  • 12 & 13th Jul
  • 9 & 10th Aug
  • 13 & 14th Sep
  • 11 & 12th Oct
  • 8 & 9th Nov
  • 6 & 7th Dec

A Flexible Event

Since we understand that it is difficult to co-ordinate people from different parts of Australia (and possibly from overseas too), the SW Cybercrop is a very flexible event. We encourage all participants to post a reply in the Cybercrop welcome thread in the forums to let us know that they are participating. A simple "hello" when you arrive will suffice if you're not wanting to chat.

Starting Time

Although we designate an official start time for each Cybercrop, we understand that not everyone will be able to make it on time. That's ok! Please feel free to wander in when you're available. We also don't expect everyone to participate all weekend long (some of us actually have lives outside scrapbooking, don't we?) Feel free to spend whatever time you can spare with us throughout the weekend.

Participation

Again there's no hard and fast rules here. If you want to join in with the chat, that's fine. If you want to get some scrapping done and avoid the chatter, that's fine too. If you'd like to participate in all or some of the challenges, you can. If you'd rather work on your own projects during the Cybercrop instead - we don't mind! As long as it's something to do with scrapping, it's all good! Right?

Challenge Deadlines

If you're participating in the challenges, you'll need to have your entries uploaded by 11pm (EST) on the Sunday night at the very latest. We'll be closing off the gallery album access at that time anyhow. Prize winners are announced on the Monday morning after the event.

Cybercrop Prize Pack

At the end of the Cybercrop, submissions to the Cybercrop Gallery are judged and a winner of each challenge is selected. Challenge winners are placed into the draw for a larger prize pack of scrapbooking goodies. Prizes are available to Australian residents only. The Prize Gallery houses examples of our past prizes.
